Nepal is full of vibrant culture. And we, from Everest Luxury Holidays, know where to go if you want to pick something vibrant with views, unexpected hospitality, and styles that match our theme.

We have explored tons of villages and experienced them ourselves by hiking there, celebrating festivals with the locals, and visiting farms to change our perspective on travel.

This did not just change our perspective but made us realize that a village experience of Nepal is always going to fascinate our travellers.

What to Expect in ELH’s Cross-Cultural Journey?

This isn’t your typical sit-back-and-relax escape. Every day on this journey invites you to walk, connect, and discover the rhythms of village life—waking up to birdsong, learning from the locals, and embracing nature with a fresh perspective.

We’ve designed this experience to reflect the lives of our ancestors—when weekends meant visiting family in the hills, playing with lambs, and waiting for warm stew by the fire.

Remember when our granny was cooking us stew and we were playing with the little lambs? That memory inspired us to curate this trip: part nostalgic, part immersive, fully unforgettable.

Your journey takes you to Achaane village in the Dhading district—just 4 hours by road (partly off-road) or a scenic 30-minute helicopter flight, our personal favorite. This is where luxury meets simplicity. Our hilltop glamping tents await you with all the comforts, surrounded by open skies and earthy quiet.

During your 7-day trip—including your time in Kathmandu—you’ll spend 5 days in the village, soaking in everything real and rooted. Visit expansive organic farms where you can pick seasonal fruits and vegetables yourself. Craving a pork steak? Our private farm has you covered with fresh ingredients prepared just the way you like.

Looking for something different? We organise a volleyball match on the sandy banks of the Netrawoti River. Spend the whole day by the water. Our expert guides can even create a safe, sustainable swimming space for you and your kids to enjoy.

Festivals are seasonal, but we’ve got that sorted. Our travel advisors help you plan your trip around exclusive local celebrations so you can join the fun and carry back vibrant stories no one else has.

Daily hikes range from easy to moderate, weaving through village paths and local hills. One of the highlights includes a viewpoint hike to Ganga Jamuna, where you can see Manaslu, Langtang, and even Annapurna on a clear day.

To make the journey more meaningful, we also include a visit to a local school—giving you a glimpse into rural education and creating moments of shared joy with the children there.

Essential Tips

Here’s a list of useful information for your trip:

Nepal Visa Process

Getting a visa for Nepal is easy. Most travelers can get a visa on arrival at the airport in Kathmandu.

You will need:

  • A valid passport (with at least 6 months left before it expires)

  • A passport-sized photo

  • Visa fee (you can pay in US dollars or another major currency)

Visa costs:

  • 15 days: $30 USD

  • 30 days: $50 USD

  • 90 days: $125 USD

You can also apply online before you fly. Just visit the official Nepal Immigration website and fill out the form. This saves you time at the airport.

Trip Level

This trip is for anyone who enjoys light hiking and village life. You don’t need to be super fit or have trekking experience.

You will be walking on easy trails, usually for 1 to 3 hours a day.

We provide comfortable glamping tents, fresh meals, and short drives to make your journey easy.

Even kids and older adults can enjoy this trip. If you love nature, people, and culture, this trip is perfect for you.

Roads During the Trip

The roads in Nepal can be bumpy and dusty, especially in the village areas.

You will ride in a strong 4WD jeep that is safe and comfortable for rough roads.

Sometimes, we take small mountain roads that twist and turn, so it’s good to carry motion sickness tablets just in case.

We always choose the best and safest routes, and our drivers are trained for mountain driving.

If you don’t like long drives, you can choose a short helicopter ride instead.

Responsible Tourism

This trip supports local people and nature.

We stay in local villages, eat home-grown food, and hire village guides and cooks. This helps families earn a better living.

We don’t waste water or plastic. We bring refillable bottles and clean up after ourselves.

We respect local traditions, animals, and nature. You will learn about culture, but you will also help protect it.

When you travel with us, you help make life better for others—and that’s something to feel proud of.

Travel Insurance

Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.

Health and Safety

  • It’s advisable to carry any personal medication you may need during the trip.

  • The team carries a basic first aid kit, including items like bandages, antiseptic, and pain relievers.

Clothing and Gear

  • Comfortable hiking shoes for short walks around the village.

  • Lightweight clothing for daytime, but also a warm jacket for the cooler evenings.

  • A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.

  • A swimsuit for swimming in the local river.

  • A raincoat or poncho in case of rain.

Local Currency

Nepal’s currency is the Nepali Rupee (NPR). It’s advisable to carry some local currency for small purchases, though larger transactions are usually handled through credit or debit cards.

Communication

  • There’s limited internet access at the glamping site, so be prepared for limited connectivity.

  • International SIM cards are available for purchase at the airport if needed.

  • If you need to make urgent calls and the service is unavailable, your guide can assist you in finding nearby phone services.

Respect for Local Culture

  • Dress modestly, particularly when visiting religious sites or local homes.

  • Always ask before taking photos of people, especially during cultural ceremonies or private moments.

Emergency Contacts

  • Keep the contact details of the Everest Luxury Holidays team and local authorities handy.

  • In case of medical emergencies, your guide will assist in getting you to the nearest medical facility.

Weather

  • The climate can vary based on the time of year, so pack accordingly. The area can be cooler in the mornings and evenings, with warm days.

Local Customs and Etiquette

  • When greeting locals, a simple "Namaste" with folded hands is customary.

  • If invited to a local's home or to participate in rituals, respect their customs and traditions.

Tipping

  • Tips are appreciated by the staff, guides, and porters. It’s not mandatory but is a kind gesture for their service.

Things to Bring

  • A flashlight or headlamp (in case of power outages).

  • A journal or camera to document your experiences.

Important Notes

  • The trip is physically moderate, with some light hikes and village exploration.

  • Please inform the Everest Luxury Holidays team ahead of time of any dietary restrictions or special requests.

  • Respect the environment by keeping the area clean and disposing of waste responsibly.
